![]() ![]() Sowing the seeds of inspiration from museums and book design to complex mixed-use projects and university designs, Ron’s leadership signals the next step in the evolution of Perkins&Will from an architecture firm to an interdisciplinary design practice. Ron is active in the academic and professional arena, lecturing, publishing articles and serving on design juries, as well as editing the Perkins&Will publication, Ideas+Buildings. From the scale of a showroom to the scale of a city, Ron instills a fundamental regard for qualitative experience in every project. His management of large, multidisciplinary design teams has solidified his ability to achieve consensus and deliver creative, relevant design solutions. His experience spans all disciplines, including architecture, interiors, brand experience and urban design, and his exposure to a wide variety of aesthetic and cultural influences informs and enriches his design solutions. Ron Stelmarski is a multi-faceted designer and client advocate who places importance upon a process of creative collaboration with all project stakeholders. In 2023, Yen was elevated as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects honoring his distinguished work that has broad recognition for its design excellence at the national level. In the past nine years, Yen has won 12 AIA Design Awards at national, state, and local levels. He has twice led 5G, in 20, to be ranked 31st in the Design category among the Top 50 US Firms in the ARCHITECT 50 program run by the official publication of the AIA. Leading a practice culture that promotes curiosity, celebrates inclusivity, and empowers personal autonomy, Yen enables the discovery and application of the extraordinary into project conditions, entwining matters of context, typology, and craft into emotive works that are lucid, uplifting, and tactile with a nudge towards fantasy. He directs 5G’s architectural research, is a contributing writer to design publications, and frequently serves on design award juries. He is instrumental in the development of 5G’s widely published award-winning portfolio, covering projects in the United States, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. He was project architect for Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and has worked on theatre projects in Denver and St. For La Maison Symphonique, the concert hall that opened in 2011 in Montreal, Matthew was responsible for the design of the building’s concert hall, facades, and public spaces. Matthew has specialized in both the design of performing arts spaces and spaces for learning. The copper recycling process consists of collecting and classifying scrap according to its purity. A 2017 World Bank report “ The Growing Role of Minerals and Metals for a Low Carbon Future” highlights how demand for metals such as aluminum, copper, lithium and others will increase with the large-scale use of solar, wind, and batteries. This is an important feature, since the demand for the material is expected to increase significantly in the future. But a factor worth mentioning is that copper can be recycled infinitely, practically without losing its properties. In architecture, copper coatings are greatly appreciated for their aesthetics and durability. Used for decorative objects, jewelry, automotive parts, electrical systems, and even for dental amalgams, the material has had huge demand. Copper has since been used in diverse ways. This occurred in the last period of prehistory, more than 10,000 years ago, in the so-called Metal Age, when groups, until then nomadic, started to become sedentary, developing agriculture and starting the first urban settlements. It is believed that copper was the first metal to be found by men and used in the manufacture of tools and weapons. ![]()
